At Your Fingertips: The Library’s World

Share post:

By now everyone knows that your friendly, community library offers a lot more than just books in the stacks. Most public libraries are also a vast source of online research material and databases, with knowledgeable staff on hand to help navigate through all the information.

What people may not realize is that you might not even have to go to the library to access its wealth of information. Princeton Public Library staffers Janet Hauge and Erica Bess will highlight the popular and easily accessible online tools available through the library’s digital collections at a meeting of the Princeton Macintosh Users Group on Tuesday, January 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Princeton Theological Seminary, Stuart Hall, Room 6, on Alexander Street in Princeton. See pmug-nj.org/ for map and directions.

PMUG will provide its monthly Q & A session at 6:30 before the general meeting.

Hauge and Bess can offer advice on how library patrons can watch a television series, manage their investment portfolios, and receive live, one-on-one homework help — from their own homes. According to PMUG’s press release, they will also discuss some of the unique services the library offers and share plans for new technology projects.

Hauge, the technology initiatives librarian at Princeton Public Library, coordinates the library’s technology training center programs and does outreach to local organizations with technology needs. She also provides reference and reader advisory services.

Bess, head of adult services, provides reference and reader advisory services, and is active in the planning of technology instruction, collection management, and programming at the library.
